TIOVEN

TIOVEN (tiotropium bromide) Inhalation Powder is an anticholinergic medication used to prevent bronchospasm (narrowing of the lungs’ airways) in people with bronchitis, emphysema, or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

Common side effects of TIOVEN include:

• dry mouth
• constipation
• upset stomach
• vomiting
• cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat)
• nosebleed
• muscle pain.

DESCRIPTION

• Inhale this medication orally as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily. Do not inhale more than two sprays in a 24-hour period.
• Keep this medication away from your eyes. It can cause eye pain and irritation, as well as temporary blurred vision and other vision changes. When using the inhaler, wrap your lips around the mouthpiece tightly.
• To avoid dry mouth and throat irritation, rinse your mouth after using the inhaler.
• If you are using multiple inhalers at the same time, wait at least 1 minute between each one.
• To get the most out of this medication, take it on a regular basis. Use it at the same time every day to help you remember.

Precautions
Before taking tiotropium, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, ipratropium, atropine, or any other medications. Inactive ingredients in this product may cause allergic reactions or other problems. For more information, consult your pharmacist.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially if you have a personal or family history of glaucoma (angle-closure type), difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, or kidney disease.
